WollCon is once again partnering with the Wollongong Salvation Army Brass Band to support the 2024 Red Shield Appeal with a special concert.
The concert will be an opportunity to showcase the work of local programs supported by the Red Shield Appeal fundraiser, such as the Carinya Women and Children’s Service which provides crisis accommodation for women and children who are escaping domestic violence/and or homelessness.
Both the Orchestra and Band will present a variety of music that will appeal to both young and old.
The Orchestra will perform a selection of well-known classical pieces as the orchestra explores the theme of “Composers who became Legends”.
One of Inspire Music Australia’s Emerging Artists and WollCon’s 2023 Concerto winner Annabel Wouters will be performing Vivaldi’s Piccolo Concerto, the Powell String Orchestra will also be performing, and Tanya Phillips conducting the WollCon ensembles.

I can’t think of a better way to demonstrate this than through the Orchestra’s participation in such an important and impactful appeal.”
