Early Years
Combining the Suzuki method of teaching music with the Kodaly method gave rise to the pre-music literacy program for young children at WollCon, and was formally introduced as ChiME in 1980. To this day the ChiME program is considered one of the most successful programs in WollCon’s history, igniting a lifelong passion for music.
Literally thousands of children have benefitted, and you are never far away from someone who has taken part in ChiME.
In 1988 the Transition Year program was developed as part of ChiME to provide young children with hands-on experience of a variety of instruments to establish which instrument the student was most likely to enjoy and succeed at.
ChiME
WollCon’s music lessons for kids are designed for children aged 1-8 years, providing children with the opportunity to explore music through singing, playing, moving, listening and creating.
ChiME is based on the latest research into child development and early childhood education, recognising the importance of a child’s “play-full” exposure to quality music experiences.
