Flame Tree Project

The Flame Tree Project choir (of 2022) provided children of the Illawarra with the opportunity to develop and perform original compositions that connect to where we live.

The choir learnt and performed new songs by Australian composers together with Kate Whitworth and a choreographer over 4 full days at WollCon, before performing to the community.

Brought together with the support and collaboration of the Coomaditchie Aboriginal United Corporation, IMB Community Foundation and WollCon, the Flame Tree Project was managed by Kate Whitworth who has had many years of experience with children’s choirs.

Selected songs were new pieces by Australian composers: Andrew Howes, Josephine Gibson, Rachel Bruerville and Annie Kwok.
