First Female Executive appointed to WollCon

Following David Francis’ appointment with the Three Choirs Festival in the UK, WollCon is pleased to officially announce a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music.

Introducing Annette Brown who was the General Manager of Australia’s Sydney Eisteddfod for the past 3 years and brings a wealth of experience as a music leader in all disciplines.

Chair of the Conservatorium Board, Nicky Sloan said, “We are really excited to welcome Annette as the new CEO especially with her background in community-based and youth performing arts organisations such as the Moorambilla Voices, a multi-arts program for children and youth in regional NSW.

Annette who has already started her role at WollCon is keen to create more development opportunities for young musicians through education and performance opportunities.

She is the first woman in the CEO role for WollCon and hopes to continue the work of our previous CEO of creating a vibrant music hub that the local community can access.

“Whether you are a musician, performer, parent or volunteer you have a place here at WollCon and we welcome you with open arms.” Said Annette.

Annette has started reaching out to local community leaders to discuss building new partnerships.

More About Annette

Annette has been the International Director of the British Federation of Festival, has held Orchestra and Ensemble Manager positions in Sydney, Canberra, and for the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, and was the Operations Manager for the Moorambilla Voices.
