Vocal program expanding

WollCon is pleased to be expanding its vocal program to include more daytime places for people of all ages interested in singing lessons, as well as small group lessons for primary aged students, and our adult Chamber choir.

Beginners through to aspiring professional singers are welcome and will benefit from Trish Delaney-Brown’s 25 plus years of performance and teaching. The benefits of singing are well documented as a confidence building, stress releasing, endorphin producing activity which one can do with little cost.

Trish Delaney-Brown

“One-on-one lessons are best to help you understand your own instrument: how your voice works, why it behaves the way it does, tools for tackling specific vocal challenges and repertoire to build confidence, stamina, range and colour.” – Trish

Although many enjoy singing for its own merits, WollCon provides a number of performance opportunities for its vocalists throughout the year.

There are also a number of vocal ensembles or groups that vocalists can join, providing additional benefits of musical and personal camaraderie, learning to blend with others, and build the ability to hold a part.

Singing FUNdamentals

Become a Vocal Explorer! Singing FUNdamentals is a small group class for young singers (years 1-5) that explores the workings of the amazing instrument that is the human voice in an engaging and age appropriate way. Lessons include singing and non-singing games and repertoire, plus exercises exploring the different components of our unique instrument. APPLY

WollCon Chamber Choir

Following the success of the 2022 Wollongong Messiah Choir, we have plans for the Choir to continue as a large chamber choir to be led by Hayden Barrington. The Choir will be for more experienced singers who enjoy singing classical choral repertoire, and choral arrangements of songs.  There will be opportunities for the Choir to sing in performances in and around Wollongong as well as joining other larger performances.

The Choir meet on Thursday evenings between 6:30pm and 8:30pm at UOW.

Vocal Placement Sessions for Semester 1 have already occurred, however if you would like to be considered for future positions, please contact Hayden Barrington.
