Rhiannon Bannenberg

ChiME

What do you teach at the Con?

I teach in the ChiME program.

What is it that you love about teaching music – particularly at Wollongong Conservatorium?

I started at WollCon  as a 4 year old in the ChiME program and went on to spend many years as a music student. It’s wonderful to share my love of music all these years (decades!) later with the next generation of students as introducing children to music is a skill and interest they can enjoy for life!

Please share a particular career highlight and why it’s special to you.

I’ve made two films in the Illawarra with film music soundtracks that feature many students and staff members of WollCon. It’s incredibly rewarding to work on creative projects that draw on the abundance of local talent we have in the Illawarra and at the Wollongong Conservatorium.

What’s one piece of music that you’d recommend people listen to?

Max Richter’s reimagining of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons (‘Spring 1’ is my favourite!)
