What do you teach at the Con?

Guitar.

What genres do you teach?

Classical and flamenco. Both styles have such a huge repertoire but I’m particularly drawn to the music of South America, especially Brazil.

What is it that you love about teaching music – particularly at Wollongong Conservatorium?

I love seeing my students improve and the joy and pleasure they get from playing and sharing music.

Please share a particular career highlight and why it’s special to you.

In 2003 I gave a solo recital in a 12th century church in the small village of Monreal in the South of France. It was a beautiful summer evening and the entire village turned up to hear me play.

What’s one piece of music that you’d recommend people listen to?

Samba Pro Rapha by Yamandu Costa.
