What genres do you teach?
I primarily focus on jazz and other popular and contemporary music styles.
What is it that you love about teaching music – particularly at Wollongong Conservatorium?
Having a passion for music, whatever the style, is a gift that is evergreen and that stays with us for life. I love teaching music because it puts me in a unique position to bring people of all walks of life closer to the wonders and possibilities of music.
Please share a particular career highlight and why it’s special to you.
In 2023, a band called The Vampires that I have been co-leading with some close friends since 2005 won an ARIA Award for best jazz album of the year. That moment was a particularly special milestone in my career because it was the result of many years of hard work and commitment to our sound and it was a moment that I was fortunate enough to share with my friends.
