Seeing students developing their passion for music and the skills that follow as a result is the greatest joy.

Please share a particular career highlight and why it’s special to you.

In 2015, I was awarded an Australia Council grant to compose a composition for the Anzac Centenary commemoration. It was an extended piano piece exploring piano playing styles popular during the wartime era. It is a set of variations on the iconic Australian song Road to Gundagai. I performed the piece in the Wollongong Gallery on Anzac day of that year. It was a great privilege to make such a contribution.

What’s one piece of music that you’d recommend people listen to?

Pastorale by John Spence. Features Scott Taggart playing violin and John Spence playing piano.
