Glenn Whitehall

Voice

What do you teach at the Con?

I teach voice and have been here since August 2021.

What genres do you teach?

I come from a professional contemporary music background, and enjoy working across soul, blues, rock, r’n’b and pop.

What is it that you love about teaching music – particularly at Wollongong Conservatorium?

I love the shared enthusiasm for quality music and music education across the different disciplines here.

Please share a particular career highlight and why it’s special to you.

During 2021 I was a part of a live TV production for SBS called “Australia’s Biggest Singalong” which incorporated live crosses to people’s homes across the country. It showed the amazing diversity of singing culture we have in Australia, and was a very welcome opportunity to work with some of our country’s best vocalists.

What’s one piece of music that you’d recommend people listen to?

I’d recommend people listen to the Pink Floyd album “Dark Side of the Moon” – apart from the lyricism and musicality, the recording production still stands out over the technology we have access to now.
