Speech & Drama

What do you teach at the Con?

Speech and Drama – I will be teaching Saturday morning classes from Term 3.

What is it that you love about teaching Speech and Drama?

I enjoy giving students the confidence to get up in front of others and perform. It gives me great pleasure when a reluctant student has a go in a performance like a play, an eisteddfod or an exam, and enjoys the experience so much they want to do it again!

Please share a particular career highlight and why it’s special to you.

A career highlight for me was my ten years as Head Teacher of Performing Arts at Wollongong High School of Performing Arts. I enjoyed focusing on voice work as part of my drama teaching and seeing students shine in HSC Drama, at the State Shakespeare Carnival, at Wollongong Eisteddfod, winning the Senior Theatre Sports Award at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney, directing lots of plays, creating many performance opportunities for Drama students and just seeing students engaged totally in a drama  class!
