What do you teach at the Con?
Viola
What genres do you teach?
I teach a range of musical genres, with a particular focus on art music and classical repertoire.
What is it that you love about teaching music – particularly at Wollongong Conservatorium?
Having only just started at WollCon, I love the opportunity to take on a new challenge. I’m looking forward to supporting my students and helping them develop their own musical skills and confidence.
Please share a particular career highlight and why it’s special to you.
One career highlight I’m particularly proud of was seeing a group of beginner students I taught at a local primary school participate in the Department of Education’s Combined Instrumental Music Festival at the Sydney Opera House after only six months of learning. It was especially special to see how hard they worked and how much they achieved in such a short time.
What’s one piece of music that you’d recommend people listen to?
Robert Schumann – Märchenbilder (Fairy Tale Pictures), for viola and piano.
