What is it that you love about teaching music – particularly at Wollongong Conservatorium?
What I love most about teaching music is seeing the joy and confidence it brings to young musicians. At the Wollongong Conservatorium, I’m surrounded by a supportive, creative community that truly values musical growth. It’s an inspiring place to teach, where students are encouraged to explore, express, and connect through music.
Please share a particular career highlight and why it’s special to you.
Performing Rossini’s Stabat Mater with the Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with Opera Queensland, conducted by Richard Mills. The experience of bringing such a powerful work to life alongside incredible musicians and vocalists was both artistically enriching and personally unforgettable.
What’s one piece of music that you’d recommend people listen to?
If you haven’t heard Scottish Fantasy by Bruch, you’re missing out on one of the most beautiful works of violin repertoire. It weaves together haunting Scottish folk melodies with rich romanticism. Every time I hear it, I’m reminded of music’s power to express what words never could.
