Canberra based Luminescence Children’s Choir visited Wollongong and collaborated with WollCon’s youth choirs.
Luminescence Children’s Choir (LCC) are a treble choir based in Canberra, for singers aged between 10 – 17.
Offering young people a quality musical experience and education it also creates a safe and creative space for students. Conducted by AJ America, the LCC has rapidly established itself as one of Canberra’s premier programs for young singers and musicians.
Here at WollCon, we are deeply committed to fostering an arts community and providing our students with access to world-class performers and music education, and Luminescence’s work aligns perfectly with our mission to inspire, educate, and connect people through music.
So, we collaborated with LCC with a full day workshop on Sunday 29th June for our children’s and youth choirs right here at WollCon.
“Since its beginnings nearly a decade ago, Luminescence Children’s Choir has been about more than just singing—it’s about giving young people the tools, space, and support to express themselves through music. Whether performing in a world-class concert hall or a school auditorium, our choristers bring a deep sense of joy, creativity, and connection to what they do. We’re so looking forward to bringing that spirit to WollCon—sharing music, learning from one another, and creating something special together.”
It was a wonderful learning experience for WollCon singers, which included lunch and organised activities in the Botanic Garden, as well as an exciting finale concert for families in friends in the afternoon.
“The activities were designed to foster collaboration, nature engagement and add some energetic outdoor fun to this amazing program.” Said Botanic Garden’s Education & Outreach Specialist Sam Crosby.
