What genres do you teach?
Contemporary and Traditional, including Jazz, Classical, Latin, Funk, Soul, Hip-hop and Musical Theatre.
What is it that you love about teaching? Particularly at WollCon?
One of my joys in life is helping my students expand their compositional palette, as well as honing their skills in music theory and production. I believe that playing and studying music allows people to grow, heal and bring hope to the world.
Please share a particular career highlight and why it’s special to you.
A major career highlight for me was performing at the ‘Rise Up as One‘ Concert with fellow Berklee alumni and Alejandro Saenz near the U.S. – Mexico border. The concert called for political participation and breaking down barriers rather than building walls.
WHAT’S ONE PIECE OF MUSIC THAT YOU’D RECOMMEND PEOPLE LISTEN TO?
This recording, arrangement (and entire album) helped inspire a lot of my compositional work on my debut album ‘Maya’.
