Clarinet | Saxophone | In School

What do you teach at the Con?

Saxophone and Clarinet, and the In School program

What genres do you teach?

All styles, mainly jazz but some classical as well.

What is it that you love about teaching music – particularly at Wollongong Conservatorium?

I love helping people both young and old to gain an appreciation of music and particularly jazz. Even if they never become a musician I believe learning an instrument is one of the most enriching activities you can undertake and to be able to do it at the Wollongong Con’s idyllic campus is a bonus.

Please share a particular career highlight and why it’s special to you.

Last year I was fortunate enough to perform at the ARIAs with Lime Cordiale. I got to wear a tailored suit and met Delta Goodrem!

What’s one piece of music that you’d recommend people listen to?

It has to be My Favourite Things by John Coltrane. It’s the song that made me want to become a sax player.
