CONDUCTING – TEACHING – PLAYING

Presented by WollCon and City of Wollongong Symphonic Band, and Sponsored by Yamaha Australia.

Guest Clinician Dr Rob McWilliams will lead two ensemble workshops covering many aspects of leading and playing in an ensemble.

These clinics are for conductors, aspiring conductors, ensemble leaders, music teachers and students, as well as community wind band musicians.

DAY ONE:
Build Conducting and Teaching Skills

Sun 9 March 9:00am – 2:00pm
Cost $35 for both days

Conductors, Teachers and Students – enhance your conducting technique and broaden your ensemble teaching skills with the expert guidance of Dr Rob McWilliams.
Saturday will be an interactive workshop on conducting and ensemble pedagogy.
Sunday will focus on applying these skills in a practical setting during the Playing Day with City of Wollongong Symphonic Wind Band.

DAY TWO:
Play in a Wind Band

With Dr Rob Mc Williams and City of Wollongong Symphonic Wind Band

Sun 9 March 9:00am – 2:00pm
Cost $15 for Sunday only

Community Wind Band Musicians are invited to play with the City of Wollongong Symphonic Wind Band in an exciting Playing Day. 
Enjoy engaging, challenging wind band repertoire, enhance your musicianship, and connect with fellow musicians.

Participants will receive an Accreditation Certificate.

MORE ABOUT ROB McWILLIAMS
(Ph.D., M.Mus., B.Mus.Ed.)

Prof. McWilliams holds a Ph. D. in Music from the University of Minnesota, a Master’s degree in Instrumental Conducting from Florida State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Melbourne.
He served as Professor of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (USA) from 1996 to 2014.
He has conducted and presented in the UK, Europe, Asia, and been published in peer-reviewed journals and as a composer/arranger with Alfred’s Music and Brolga Music.  He is currently the Education Outreach Clinician for Yamaha and freelancing as a musician, educator, conductor, composer/arranger, and adjudicator.
