Over 55 young musicians from across regional New South Wales are preparing for the opportunity of a lifetime as they embark on the 2025 Europe Tour with the Regional Youth Orchestra NSW (RYO) and will include four WollCon students.
Congratulations to Annabel Wouters, Albert Mau, Shannon Wu and Alice Colley who are part of this group of talented young musicians from across the state.
RYO will present a Farewell Concert (June 27th) before their departure, offering audiences a chance to hear the orchestra perform their tour repertoire and celebrate this historic moment for regional arts in NSW.
The orchestra, comprising students aged 13–22 from towns across the state, will perform in Austria and Germany throughout July, taking part in high-profile concerts, workshops and cultural exchanges with international music institutions and ensembles.
“This tour represents an extraordinary achievement for these young musicians, and a powerful example of what regional arts programs can make possible. The students are about to share their music on an international stage — and take their regional communities with them in spirit.”
The Europe Tour will see RYO perform at venues including the Musikverein in Vienna, St Matthew’s Church in Berlin, and the University of Vienna, alongside collaborative workshops and performances with youth ensembles in each country.
“This tour is the natural next step for an ensemble of this calibre. It gives our students a global perspective on music and the chance to grow artistically, personally, and culturally.”
The Orchestra will perform at Music Workshop at the Sydney Conservatorium at 5:00pm on Friday June 27.
